I was watching an episode of QI (English quiz show presented by Stephen Fry) last night and they claimed that it was actually Ada's father, Lord Byron, who was the first programmer for his work on loom machines that used punch cards. I can't seem to find anything yet to back up this claim though, so could be a hard to prove claim or my Google-fu isn't up to scratch these days...
Until now I haven't seen any replies from Sveta Bond moderated or otherwise, only the two original posts (which did look suspicious from a spam-monitoring angle).
Which society are you talking about (there are many around the world)? In mine, girls are generally recognised as the better mathematicians and scientists throughout school; when they leave it's to enter a society in which mathematicians and scientists are poorly appreciated.
The same situation in Ukraine . Girls are doing better at school but when they enter adult life some prefer family to science
