adding PHP functions written in C

Hi all,

Although I'm pretty new to PHP, I'm incredibly impressed so far with its flexibility and huge library of functions.

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how hard it is to extend PHP with additional functions written in C? I've briefly read through the README.SELF-CONTAINED-EXTENSIONS file included in the PHP4 distribution but have yet to try my hand at it. Can anyone recommend a good step-through tutorial on this topic?

in windows i don't know how you can extend
php with c, but under linux you can use and *.so (c module) and use dl(); php function
if you want to see more or less how it works
go on freshmeat and query for php ircd
and check the code!
