Sessions & Warnings

Not sure how much information anyone needs to help me, but I'll give this a shot.

I have an this "Warning" on my login page (index.phtml): Warning: open(/tmp/session/sess_83977b7dd813d4f029627832427cfc80, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in pass.inc on line 2

On line 2 of the pss.inv file, all that is being performed is the session_start(); function.

At the bottom of index.phtml I get two more "Warnings" like this: Warning: open(/tmp/session/sess_83977b7dd813d4f029627832427cfc80, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in [no active file] on line 0

Warning: Failed to write session data. Please check that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/tmp/session) in [no active file] on line 0

I had this working once, but as far as I know nothing has changed on the server. Sounds stupid, but I am at a loss and very confused. Any ideas?

Are you trying to do session-type things like asp?

I am coming into php from asp and what php uses in place of session variables. I found that when you set a php cookie without setting the expiration date, that seems to work like a session cookie- it only gets written to the cookie file when you set the date, other wise it expires. You can call it across pages like a session variable.

Is that what you are trying to do--hope I wasnt way off--its late.

I think you have an error on session.save_path setting.
You can check your session.save_path setting in your php.ini file.This setting must be pointed to an correct and existed path.For example it can be c:\windows\tmp. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. Sorry to say that neither of you didn't help me directly. You both gave me couple ideas, though.

I took a look at the directory on the server and noticed that there wasn't a session folder placed within /tmp/. As soon as I created /tmp/session/ and gave rights to the world, it worked!
