Pulling infoq

I have anither question. This forum is great BTW.

Here it goes. I have a file name, but it has the whole directory info with it. How would I pull out just the file name? I am getting this info from a file, not from a readdir function. Here is a sample line:

/home/sites/home/ftp/mp3s/singles/(Nofx)-GilligansIsland.mp3

I want to get just the name of the mp3, from ( to .mp3.

There might be a smoother way to do this with regular expressions or something, but here's something that's short and will do it well.

$fullname = "/home/sites/home/ftp/mp3s/singles/(Nofx)-GilligansIsland.mp3";

$thearray = explode("/",$fullname);
$filename = end($thearray);

Now $filename contains the name of the file.

Try:

$filename = substr($path_to_file, strrpos($path_to_file, "/")+1);

Try :
$filename=basename($path)

it returns the filename from the full path.
