How to store various types of file in database ?

Hi there,
thanks for reading this post.

Please help me if you have any idea on the
following question:

How to store various types of file in database and then How to retrieve various types of files from database and then let
the user to download them or view them
directly in browser?

For example, how can I display a hyperlink
of a Microsoft Word file in a dynamic
webpage that will be retrieved from database
and then the user could click on the link to
view the file or right-click to "save the
target as" ?

The file type you'd need to use to store a Word doc is most likely a blob, however, I've no idea how you'd let the user download the file dirrectly from the database. An easier solution might be to store all the actual downloadable files on your hard drive and use the database to maintain a list of available files and their corresponding links. Just a thought🙂
