Web-based Word Processor!?

I would like to ask that can I write a Web-based Word Processor in PHP?

I just started looking into the web-based word processor idea and there doesn't seem to be much about it. While it would probably have a niche market (namely, me and probably 11 other people on the planet) I don't think it would be too hard to accomplish. However, an applet version seems to lend itself to the task than PHP (or any other scripting solution).

Sorry if I don't sound like a team player (this being phpbuilder.com and all), but I was drawn here by the application idea, not the platform.

Anyway, are there any others thinking about this?

I also have the same problem. I am looking at integrating a word processing facility into our intranet.

WHAT A FANTASTIC IDEA
that would solve lots of our intranet and "road warrior" access to common documents problems and/or automatically creating documents on the fly from a website to send out quotes/proposals etc

I read this article on XML

and thought that if we used star office in the office and a web based frontend remotely then as long as the format could be converted to a currently universally acceptable format ie. pdf (or the like) easily or automatically then sending customers info/quotes etc from anywhere to anywhere would be easy

and we could dump our relience on the hateful ms office

Sorry but I am not a wiz bang coder so I can't give much input on that front but if anyone out there is working on such a project I would love to know.

I was doing some searching online to find out what interest there might be on my online word processor - and came across this forum.
