Querying a db with a html link

Hi there,
I'd like to know how to put a text link on my web site to query a specific field in a db.
Example:
<a href="www.mysite.com/query.php3 fruit="apples">apples</a>

The table in the db has:
veggies
fruit
meat

The _ is the query to the db.

Please help!

Your nearly there.....

<a href="www.mysite.com/query.php3?fruit=apples>apples</a>

Then in your script you have this:

mysql_query("SELECT * FROM $db WHERE fruit='$fruit'");

First of all, thats a huge security error. someone could drop the whole database, or table so i would strongly go against it.

Could you explain how having fruit=apples at the end of your link can allow someone to drop a database
