Printing to a barcode printer from PHP

Hello,

I have the following problem:
My program has to print barcodes to a bar code printer by sending control codes to the paralel port. This is very easy using ASP and the COMM ActiveX, but I don't know if it´s possible to send codes directly to the printer using PHP.
