Converting (Newbie)

How do I convert?

I should have (I think I also do)
a INT in a table,
but when I run a script it says:

Warning: Sybase message: Implicit conversion from datatype 'VARCHAR' to 'INT' is not allowed. Use the CONVERT function to run this query. (severity 16) in /www/htdocs/testa/kedja/input2.php on line 21

How do I convert this?

I thought I ought to use:
convert(varchar, int)

But how would it know in which Table
and what Columns to convert?

PLEASE EXPLAIN EASILY, OTHERWISE I WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND.
(I´ve been using PHP for 2 weeks, and I am
self learned to 100%)

CONVERT is a function in Sybase, apparently. I don't know anything about that.

you might try some standard SQL syntax:
ALTER TABLE tablename CHANGE column column INT NOT NULL;

It looks weird, but you DO need to name the column twice.

There is no CHANGE function in SQL!

Oh, well, it works in mySQL.

MySQL is much better
then Sybase..
(I cannot find any commands in Sybase 🙁
