URGENT:oracle8.1.6+php4+suse linux6.4+apache1.3.12

hi.

when i use the above configuration on the client, the php simply fails to connect. i am using oracle 8.1.6.0.0 on the server with WIN NT.

the error given is>

_oci_open_server: Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-12154

the irony is that using the same username, password and connect string, it connects from sqlplus. the tnsping also works fine.

anybody came across a similar problem?

i solved the problem by some crooked means:

OCILogOn($user, $password, "(DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 192.168.66.5)(PORT = 1521))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = oradb.oracletest)))")
