Multiple includes OK??

Hola,

I'm trying to use two includes in some of my files. One's for the db access protos, and one is for the template (PHPlib).

Both files (template and db access) work fine when I use only one of them in a page, but they refuse to work together on the same page.

What's the deal with this? Is there a rule against more than one include per page?

I don't think so, 'cause I know you can include both a header and a footer on a single page.

Anyone with some answers?

Maybe you are using identical variable names? I use multiple includes all of the time.

Include files should generally consist of either code that creates variables for the later coming code to use, or lots of functions that many modules can share and use.

Generally speaking, it's bad manners to create includes that operate on globals, except for globals you expressely want it to operate on. An include written this way might look like this:

function check_admin($uname){

Open file and read entries

or Check to see if $uname in database

of admin users.

All the vars here are local and will not

impact other sections of code

return $admin;
}

Here we set the global var $ADMIN:

if (check_admin($PHP_AUTH_USER)){
$ADMIN=1;
}else{
$ADMIN=0;
}
