Funny chars in email.

I written a script which uses PHP's mail command to send out email based on the results of some sql queries(The results are very large). The problem is I keep getting emails with exclamation points inserted into random places. This is a huge problem for me cause the person recieving the email has the write a program to extract variuos element from the email and if these exclamation points exist then this will stuff up his program.

Could it have something to with the email client (Microsoft Outlook) or is it PHP's mail command.

This could be a stupid answer - you've probably thought about it already - but does it have anything to do with htmlspecialchars?

If so, remove them from a $var by doing:

$var=htmlspecialchars($var)

But I'm sure that's the first thing you tried.

I know this issue happened a long time ago, but I am now experiencing this same problem. Did either of you ever find out what is going on?
