php & db access errors

Anyone know how to stop this from appearing (other than ditching the db, LOL) :-

Warning: Unable to connect to PostgresSQL server: pqReadData() -- backend closed the channel unexpectedly. This probably means the backend terminated abnormally before or while processing the request. in /web/sites/***/users/www.mysite.com/members/missphp.php on line 10

Is it possible to add in a ' if ' clause so if it cannot connect produces a short error message rather than the above which then messes up your whole site.

I've heard you can use @ at the front to suppress, how ?

Hi!! To supress the error log, do the next:

@pqReadData()

and that's it!!!
