Can I import HTML in another HTML page with PHP4?

Hi,

I was wondering, I have a website that uses no frames, but I have a table at the left, that is the same on all the pages that form the website. I was wondering, can I read HTML code out of a txt file, and import it into the original, let's say index.php file?

I tried this:

$fp = fopen("file.txt", "r");
echo $fp;
?>

of course, that only prints the file id#. (Yes, I am a newbie).

Any help greatly appreciated!!

i have the same domain problem with mr bas van der deen, i'm building the website without frames.. and using tables on the left.
the difference is the content within the page is retrieved from the database.
The content is saved in a field name 'content' of a certain table (this is the table)

create table buletin (
bulid smallint not null,
subject varchar(40),
edition char(8),
fname varchar(40),
fsize varchar(8),
ftype varchar(8),
content blob,
qwords text,
primary key(bulid)
);

(the data is in html doc)
well, it seems that this won't work in some browsers.. to have two bodies (for the template and the content)
so i have to do some parsing..

my problem is, that the data is containing
<img src = ... >
which is quite hard for me to parse them..
and change the path for the image source..
please.. give me a hand..

it depends on the content of the html page you are importing, usually you can import a page called e.g. "imp.htm" with this content...

there is no need to put the "<body>....
" in the imported file ie "imp.htm"

the master file(ie. the file that is doing the importing) needs to have the opening "<body>....."

so the code in "master.php" will be like this

hence when the page is processed by the server , this is what is displayed..
