show message, wait and go to other module

I am making a little forum in php
When my user put his message.. my program (addatopic.php) show a messagge "Thanks for add your topic"...

But now i need show this message five seconds and go to the showtopics.php program... this module display all the topics...

If is not posible wait per ten seconds.. i need only send to my user at this program..

Exist a command for this? or I have to include both programs only in one?

Ps: I'm working with mysql

what might be a good idea is do do a refresh after 5 seconds to the desired url.

well,..
let me recap to see if i understood your first problem.
You have a script in a .php page which enables someone to contribute to a forum.
After their contribution you want to show them the "thank-u-page" and after ten seconds you want to present them with the showtopics.php page.

---timeline--
inputpage-submit-'calls for thank-upage'
thank-u-page refreshes after ten seconds to showtopics.php

you can use the meta tag

<meta url="showtopics.php" HTTP-equiv="refresh" content="10">
##

that should work fine.
Do you need to include variables for the showtopics.php?

Basicly it's very near of work... the program show my thankyou message but after 10 second the program show me a little windows button... when.. the message

"This page can not be refresh without send the data again"

I think that may be show me this message because the order in the meta tag is "refresh".. it's the same effect than if i press the refresh button in my browser

In few words this meta tag refresh my browser in addatopic.php, but not send me to showtopics.php.

Exist another meta tag...similar?

if you put this:
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" CONTENT="10; URL=showtopics.php">
within the head tag..it really should work...
just tried it out and it worked fine..

try cutting and pasting it in your page...to rule out a "or ' thats maybe been left out..

really hope it works,
happy to help (probably because I need it myself most of the time..)

Great to hear it works on your side...
yes you have to combine html and php.
first you send the varables to the thank-u-page, then you global the variables and include them in the url.
