i've got an upload form on my site, and i've got that working so that users can upload various files to a users directory. the uploaded files have wierd permissions/owners. i think i comprehend the owner/group - 99 fakeuser, because these are the apache user details (aren't they?) but the files are write protected... hmmm. not so much a problem (as i shouldn't need to write to them), but when i try and fopen ... "r", i get complaints that the file doesn't exist....
