directory lists

ok this is prolly a real dumb question, i am just starting out with PHP, and wondering if anyone can help me with a problem, to capture ALL file names in a folder (the one with the php or phtml file in) and then display them as links in the file. as i said, prolly real easy to answer, but i cannot find anything, i'm a newbie lol =) thanks for any help / suggestions which you can post
