does require() slow execution ?

I heard that require() slows down code execution...

before inserting all my functions at the beginning of my php files, i\'d like to know if it is true, and if it is, in which proportion (10% slower on average ?)

well, of course PHP reads 'all' the contents of the file you specify in require or include before moving ahead.

it would really depend on your server spec. if it only has about 32MB ram and 200 Mhz, and require file is about 2000 lines of code.. then it might show some performance loss 🙂

but normally, the difference is not so noticeable at all... may be few milliseconds or so..

This is an intersting one, as that's how I code as well, all my functions go into spearate, logical files and are included at the top of the page.

Maybe some benchmarking?
