Auth and Password

Hello Guys

I am wokring on a site which has a directory that it must be protected; only members are allowed to view. Can anyone help me on how I can protected. Should I use BASIC HTTP Auth or should I do a database.

Also if you know a tutorial or article to do so please let me know

Tim has a good tutorial and links to his code; this works for one of my sites, and it is what is used here:

This code is more than enough to get you started doing about anything you want to do with auth. And it's bulletproof, I'm sure.
