Getting file creation date

Hi - I'm trying to order a directory of files by creation date...I've checked out filemtime, filectime(which I understand returns creation time in Windows, but not in Unix), and fileatime - none do what I'm hoping to do. Is there a solution for this?

try to use fstat.. it should work.

Thanks for your reply...unfortunately I'm not sure this actually solves my problem. I've investigated fstat, and lstat and stat too. They all return much information including last modification date, last change date, etc., but none seem to include the file creation date. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious but if anyone can help me out I'd be greatful...
