which site is reading your file?

hello again,
i need to find out which site is actually reading my php file or any other.
e.g. if some other site is using your logo, and the logo resides on your server, you do get the site's URL etc. in your raw apache logs.

i want to check the same thing, that which site is actually reading my php file. i tried $HTTP_REFERER, but it doesnt work, and on other hand i think its not referer at all, its something else. nor the $REMOTE_ADDR as that gives you address of the 'visitor' on that site!

something like this 'http://www.abc.com/index.htm' will be great to have a result to see which site is reading the file.

I'm not sure but I don't think that is posible..

If I have understood right this is what happens when you got a image on your web page:

the server first provides the .html
The browser finds the <img>
the browser opens the address of the src in the <img>

Since the browser loads the images on it's own I don't think that you can get info on wich page requested it...

$HTTP_REFERER shall work.

As far as i understand it it contains the url of the page from where the user clicked on the link that made him sur your page.

Not sure i m clear enough, but it really looks like the thing you are looking for.

well, if your site's logos are used by other sites, or anything else ... as long as the source (i.e. logo) is on your own server. then check the raw logs (in apache). it shows which 'webpage' is viewing it, and 'NOT' the user's host or IP.

e.g. a site is using my logo on their page, and i get the result:
http://www.geocities.com/~user/index.htm

in my apache raw logs.. this is just what i want to do.. i want to get the URL of the 'page' that is reading my php file....

You could always use php's image creation capabilities and have them use <img src="mylogo.php"> Then have the necessary loggin code in mylogo.php and the last thing it does is output the image... never tried it, but i could possilby work. -g
