Hidden fields and URL params

Hello,

I am working with PHP4. In one page I have a form with some hidden fields. The action of the form points to another page, without any URL parameters.

Amazingly, when the form is submited, I can see the hidden fields and their values as URL parameters.

Why does this happen? I don't remember this type of behavior at PH3. Does anyone know how to avoid this thing? Imagine: a simple refresh, and then all the values are sumbited again...

I would appreciate any hint on this.

you haven't specified a method for your form to use, right now your form tag looks something like <form action="whatever.php">. As a default, when submitted, it assumes that you want to use the GET method which will show the variables in the URL line. To change that, you want to use the POST method, <form action="whatever.php" method="POST"> that will fix your issue. -g

The "hidden" feature only means that the fieldis not diplayed in the form.
This has nothing to do with how the data is sent to the server.
