Non-idiot needed: db insertion problem

Hola,

I've got a web-based content management system built on PHP and MySQL with one problem: MySQL will not accept anything with a quote mark (") in it.

OK, so I called addslashes ($body = addslashes($body)😉

Didn't work, still wouldn't go in.

So I doubled it up - still no go.

What blindingly obvious immediately apparent thing am I missing?

What's happening is that the part of the string $body before the quote mark (") is going into the db, but nothing else is.

The string just gets chopped in the db.

How can I fix this?
