More Field Varification.... <sigh>

Hi All.

I really want to thank those that have been helping me!!

Ok, here is my latest problem...

I have a URL field within my "submit" table.

People seem to be inserting:

www.whatever.com

Rather then:

http://www.whatever.com/

So, when it loads their URL within my page, it shows:

http://www.mysite.com/www.whatever.com/

Which, of course, is not good.

I choose not to include the "http://" part (within a "value") because the "http://" will make the script show a link to their site... even if they didn't actually insert a URL... (because the "http://" part is there) <sigh>....

Hope that makes some sense to someone out there...

Does anybody know a solution to this problem?

When they submit the url field just ereg out the http:// if it exists then on your output page just add it like:

Ereg
if (eregi("http://", $string)) {
$string = ereg_replace("http://", "", $string);
}
//Now $string has the correct value

Once you get the value from the db you can prepend the http:// to it
$string = "http://". $row["url"];
