I'm a perl programmer new in php, in I have to clean an html page... i have to clean the tags <head><title></title></head><body></body>
Tell me if i can do that, i only want to clean that tags, not others... anybody can tell me how can i do it?or at least tell me where can i found more information about RegExp, not only ereg, and eregi, or do i have to do that with perl? in that case, how can i link a perl script inside php?
I'm using php3 with mysql under linux, thanks folks, good luck.

i'm not 100% sure what you mean by 'clean'.. do you want to remove just those tags, their contents, the whole header, what?

php supports a set of (mostly) perl compatable regular expressions, which should keep you happy. see www.php.net/manual for details.

if you don't know how to use perl's regex functions i recommend o'reilly's "mastering regular expressions"

have a look at strip_tags() and fgetss().

strip_tags ($string,$allowed_tags[])

returns $string with all tags not listed in $allowed_tags[];

fgetss($fp,length,$allowed_strings[]) works with the same engine to strip input as it is read.

one last thing -

preg_replace is perfect for using regular expressions and allows you to pretty much clone the regular expressions you would normally use in Perl.
