The problem is that with that method you only loose the filename and filetype. not the image itself.
right click, download, rename to .jpg, .gif, etc...
The are articles on apache.org regarding setting apache to alow linking of images only from a perticualr domain, this does not preven saveing images on the clients computer, only from them useing you image link.
I have heard of javascript like this, but with javascript turned off its useless.
The problem is that the image got to the client right? if they can see it then it go to the clients computer. Even if you could remotley turn off the clients cache and turn on javascript, the image still got there right? then a simple sniffer on the clients computer could grab it. Ive used it myself to grab files of many sifferent types this way.
