We are having a problem with browser persistent cookies in an application. Basically, upon login a cookie is created which stores the session ID. This cookie is supposed to be browser persistent (ie when the browser is closed, the cookie goes away). It is behaving appropriately on Netscape and IE, but we are seeing the following on AOL 5.0:
- User Logs in to web application
- User signs off of AOL but does not close out completely
- Sign back onto AOL
- Login with same user name or any other user name
- User gets an invalid session error message - very tragic
Examination revealed the when you close AOL completely, the cookie is being destroyed appropriately.
My question is this: Are AOL cookies tied to the AOL.exe executable or to the individual browser instances within AOL?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
