Mailto: or hyperlinks of email/Url

I'm hoping someone can help me with two problems. I need to have an email addresse as well as web page url to be able to be linked from the output.. ie. $email or $url, etc. If possible, could you please show me a code example.

My present email output.
<% echo $email; %>

Use ' instad of " when output'in html.

echo '<p>\n Go to <a href="$url">$url</a></p>\n';

echo '<p>\n Send mail to <a href=mailto:"$email">$email</a></p>\n';
