Is addslashes() breaking my db?

hola, all

I'm having some trouble bringing in text from browser forms that includes "quote marks."

So, naturally, I'm calling addslashes on the text ...

$body = addslashes($body);

But this is doing weird things to my MySQL 3.22.32 database ... when I check a submission made that way, everything after the slash is missing.

Has anyone seen this before? What's going on here?

you should probably have a look to see if your magic_quotes are on.....(php3.ini)?

I know it's been a while since you asked this question about the addslashes function, but I sure hope you get this message.

I was looking for this function exactly ! I mean, I didn't know that it existed, but I figured that it would, and there I found your email in the PHP builder site.
