explode > eregi

Could someone help med translate
$ar = explode("<meta ", strtolower($src));
into an eregi().

I've tried this, without luck:
eregi("<meta ", $src, $ar)

Are yo utrying to get the meta tage from a page if so:

eregi("<meta(.*)>", $src, $arg)
$arg[0] //holds the phrase you were searching for
$arg[1] //holds the found data

http://www.php.net/manual/function.split.php

does the same thing as explode, but with a pattern rather than a string.

nope, I don't know how to do regular expressions, so if you could please help me making $ar = explode("<meta ", $src); case insensitive.

learn :-) they're tremendously useful. i recommend o'reilly's 'mastering regular expressions', which i the book i learned off. i became a convert to regexes when i had to replace 8500 dead links in a morning!

in the interim, i can't remember offhand if there's a spliti(), and php.net seems to be down atm, but you can use:

$ar=preg_split("/<meta/i",$string)

(the /i makes it case insensitive)
