it's more readable, certainly.
it's a good idea to have some kind of consistent scheme; i use single quotes for html attributes (eg <a name='bob'> ) and in sql statements (eg "where author like 'bob' ").
this falls down if you nest the quotes more than two deep, of course (say you're echoing an html tage with a javascript function call in it) but i find it very helpful.
