Hi!

I'm doing script for showind news on some page. I wan't to include link for next news and one back news.

I use Mysql for storin the news.

How can i do this.

I tried like this and i want to know if anybody have better idea.

I use 2 more fields in database
1. back_ID and 2. next_ID in which i store id from next news and id from back news.

But when i store a new one i have to use 2 INSERT statement. I don't like this much.

I assume you have a script that accepts something like:

news.php?id=23

If you do, just take the id of the "current" item,
and print the next button like this:
"<a href=news.php3?id=".$id+1.">";
and the back button
"<a href=news.php3?id=".$id-1.">";

My ID is generated from timestamp and microseconds

I can't use this. Is it possible to read from mysql +-1 row.

Tip: Redesign your database.

Solution:
for the back:
SELECT FROM table WHERE id<current_id ORDER BY id DESC LIMIT 1;
for the next
SELECT FROM table WHERE id>current_id ORDER BY id ASC LIMIT 1;
