Fatal error: Allowed memory size of XXXX bytes exh

Hi there,

i have a little problem with my php-page which makes a connection to a mysql db (i don´t know if it has sth. to do with
the mysql db). I´m running PHP4.0.0-15 with apache 1.3.12 on a SUSE Linux 6.4 with a 2.2.16 Kernel (Intel PIII
Coppermine machine)

after a few days when I call the site I got the following message:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted at zend_stack.c:27 (tried to allocate 256 bytes) in [no
active file] on line 0

when I restart the web server it is ok for some days and then it starts again with this error

I don´t know what´s the problem about. can s.o. help me

Manuals are your friend.

PHP has a default of 8MB of memory per script.
If a script tries to use more than 8MB of memory: boom.

This is to stop scripts from going out of control and using all available memory, possibly crashing your server.

We are having the same problem and would like to know why the same script, with the same data, works fine sometimes and fails others. So it is not the script using up more memory.

I can be using up more memory... some versions of php are known to have memory leaks...

It happens with me too. PHP4 4.0.6 Debian machine.

Seems that if I clear my temporary internet files on the browser all is well (I'm guessing because the session
management stuff resets).

I have a postgresql database access, not mysql. Also I use the PHP4 session management stuff.

It happens on random pages and not all the time, I'd say 1 in 50. Looks like a memory leak problem to me.

I get similar results will the lattest mysql and php on slackware

but the same scripts work perfectly on windows.
