passing vars to another pages

Ok this is a stupid question but i can't remember what the syntax is for a page to get the vars out of a header
i.e id=X and there was some sort of a function like HTTP_GET_VARS you told it the id and it would get the variable, i can't find it in my books or anypalce else, this is just a ba day :-(

$HTTP_GET_VARS for vars passed by GET method
$HTTP_POST_VARS for vars passed by POST method

read the manual on how to make sure your PHP is set up correctly.
You can also set it up to make passed vars global.
