Single Quote Problem

I have some data in my database that has single quotes in it.

ex.) Forgaty's Cove

I'm going to uses a selsct statement te retrieve this info and place it in a variable.

$song_title = $myrow["music_album"];

Will the single quote have any effect with this code? When I try it by just typin in the song title I have to backslash the single quote.

How do I go about fixing this if I have to?

This is the code that come to my mind: $song_title=strtr($song_title, "'", "\'");

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I had the similar problem, your solution is kind of close but your need to replace all "'" to a completely different string, since the database does use "\" for masking. Hence convert the "'" to a string like quotes3214 or something which you think you will not repeat as part of your data. When presenting the data convert vice versa.

make sure that when you write the data to the database you use addslashes() and then use stripslashes() when you get it out.
