Multiple Submit Buttons

Hello all...

I'm not quite sure if this is the right spot to ask, so don't flame me if it isn't..

My problem is the followin:

I have a HTML Form, where the user can add new items. He then should have 2 possibilities, to either add sub-itmes to the just entered item or to store the item in the database.

Normal HTML-Forms only allow one target=".." per form to my knowledge..

Has anyone got some ideas or eventually already solved the same kind of problem? I need all values from the first page on the following pages.. (in hidden fields eg.)

Hi!! When I've a similar problem a few weeks ago, and I've found this as a possible solution (it works for me):

• Use the attribute 'name' at the definition of the submit buttons and name it, for example, 'submit1' and 'submit2'; then, at the PHP script, check which one was 'set':

<FORM action=foo.php>
<INPUT type=submit name=submit1 value=' Add subitems '>
<INPUT type=submit name=submit2 value=' Store item '>
</FORM>

-=[PHP Script]=-
if(isset($submit1)) {
// Code to add subitems
} else if(isset($submit2)) {
// Code to store the item
}

Yes since you can only have one action in a form (meaning where the form will be sent to: <form action="page.php3" method="post"> )

You could do something very simple like this:

if ($button1) {

If they click button 1

}

if ($button2) {

if they click button 2

}

Then on your form page you would have 2 submit buttons:

<input type="submit" name="button1">
<input type="submit" name="button2">
