Streaming video downloads

My problems are:

Allowing access to asf files for only registered users.
Offering both online viewing and offline viewing.

I have tried using the solution that was offered for the mp3's but this resulted in only about 300 bytes being downloaded. Also by setting the mime types so that asf is parsed as php causes asx files to function incorrectly, not allowing windows media player to stream the video.
If anyone can help me then please do.

Did you find a solution to this? I have a similar problem where the media player can only open+download+play rather than open+buffer+play.

What headers did you send to make the media player buffer?
