Using PHP to display data from a MySQL database

Hi,

I'm just about beginning using PHP for a school project. There's an already existing MySQL database (of the computers at our university) and I need to write a script that makes it possible for the users to report on different problems occuring while using one of those computers. When they want to report a problem, they have to fill out a form (with their e-mail addresses, the computer ID, time and date of the problem occured and the detailed description of the problem). Then the system should send all this information directly to the operators, or store it until the operators check the system through an interface. That would be the basic concept. As I've never worked with PHP before, I'd appreciate any kind of help, advice or whatever you can do for me. Thanks in advance.

Step one, read the PHP manual.
It is full of examples of fetching data from a form, and storing it in a database.
Next, look at this very forum.
Many peolple have had the same questions (over and over again) so that might be of great help.

Also, check out the columns as they contain lots of knowledge from the "experts" :-)
