open a document:fsockopen and fopen

These days I am going mad because
i do not find a little tips or a tutorial
about:

a)
I d like to open http document with .php
or .asp and so on
(http://www.foo.com/pippo.asp?a=1212 or pippo.php?b=dojapjd )
have you ever tryed to open such a document
probably fsockopen do not work because the
document do not exist!!!

N.B i dlike to use fsockopen because I d like to use time out!!!!
if my snippet hang i can cut it.

If I use fopen every thing work :

I can read all kind of document on a remote
url -> http://www.fopen.not/impossible.asp?eveithing=foo
or somethin like this

but there is a problem if the server do not replay or the time is too long :-((

so is out of there someone that can explain to me the true ????

To get a document (I assume from a web page?) You can use fsockopen, but you have to know how to tell the web-server to give you what you want.

PHP.net, at the following URL, discussed this in relative detail, even giving an example!

(hint: Instead of "GET / HTTP/1.0\n\n", try this:
"GET /impossible.asp?ever=foo HTTP/1.0\n\n"
