dir() problem on Solaris 7

following code runs properly on FreeBSD version of PHP4.0.2 but failed on Solaris 7 :

$dir = "/home/chedong/public_html";
$d = dir($dir);
while($entry = $d->read()){
echo $entry."<br>";
}
?>
We found the error occured at
$d->read()
when the file read directory again there is no message returned.....

is it a bug on Sun OS?

Ask anybody who can gimme some advice..
I think its a file system related problem for I can run temp.php properly on FreeBSD.

dir() can't read '..' on Sun OS.
How to slove this problem or its just a php bug on Solaris?
