If anyone has made a message forum system using PHP/mySQL I'm sure you have run into this problem. It's not really a problem, just a roadblock. I've made a forum system, but I'm working now on navigation between messages and such. While viewing an individual message, "Previous Topic","Previous Thread", "Next Topic","Next Thread" and maybe a few others will need to be available. The "roadblock" is of course to devise a way to keep track of how messages relate to each other. I already keep track of parents and children for message reply reasons, but for the next and previous, etc, I'm a little stuck. I have thought of a few methods, but none of them seem to be the right one. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I would greatly appreciate any help, and I thank you in advance.
