Are there standardized variable names?

I work on projects alot with other people. We often use differnet variable names for the same thing, personal preferance.

ie.

fname
f_name
firstname
first_name
FName
...

Is there a list of good standardized var names?

ecml.org has a list of some vars...

I allways use variable names that make sense,
fname could be filename, firtsname,fooname etc,
so I use first_name, last_name and yes, even silly names like
pconnection_to_database1

It may not be easy to type, but everyone knows what you are talking about.
