PHP News System

I made a news board/news system in php. It's similar to Newspro or the like from cgi. I'm just stuck on one thing that I am absolutely clueless on how to do.

In newspro, when you go to edit news, each news item is stored in a table and each news poster can only see their own news items.

I have no idea how to make each news item to display in a different table cell. Any suggestions on how to do it? I tried to reverse engineer it from newspro but failed

When they post don't you write to the table who the poster is? Or their id? Just do the select on the news display like this..

select * from news where poster_id = 'userid'

The userid is set when they login, which is assigned to them via their username/password.
