Adding results together

Hi, I'm new to PHP, i've created a site, connected to mysql and have prices that are inputted in a user area then the customer can see the prices and the work that's been done, but i want to put a total price at the bottom, i wondered what the code is for adding results together to produce one total at the end.

You can do this using SQL:

$query = mysql_query("SELECT SUM(price) AS totalcost FROM price_table");

$result = mysql_fetch_array($query);

print $result["totalcost"];

The code works great thanks i was just wondering if it's possible to add two results together like totalcost and totalcost2? As i have two totals now, one for labour and one for parts, is it possible to combine these two?

Martin,

Once you have got the 2 results you can just add them together using PHP.

ie/

$totalresult = $totalcost1 + $totalcost2
