Why is this causing a parse error?

Why is this statement causing a parse error:

echo ("<FORM METHOD=post ACTION="add.php3">");

anyone know?

You have quotes nested inside a quoted string. You need to escape them with backslashes.

echo ("<FORM METHOD=post ACTION=\"add.php3\">");

It still gives the same error...

Steve is right, but you don't really need the quotes in the first place, so an alternative syntax would be:

echo ("<FORM METHOD=post ACTION=add.php3>");

thats odd... even after you added a backslash before the quote inside the quotes? did you make sure you checked the right line number and made sure that the line was terminated using a semicolon (😉?

at one time, my php processor complained parse error on line 13. but when I went to line 13 (under DT text editor) I found no error; I found the parse error on line 11 (that was strange). So check whether there are any other places you may have made a typo/mistake/etc. near whatever line number it says parse error on.
