Current Script Location

Does anyone know if it is possible to obtain the dir that a script is executing from in code. Here is a little example of what I am looking for. So what I am really looking for is my location during execution.

<?
$mydir = "mylocation" <--the part i need

$tp = new template($mdir . "template.html");

?>

$mydir = dirname($PATH_TRANSLATED);
echo($mydir);
