image creation with php --> shortest loaing tim

I'm making an e-commerce shop and I want to create images with php (the buttons eg.)
I now how to show them, but I just wondered what the fastest and the best way is.

Should I create them and save them as gif file and then use it,
or can I just show them on the screen without saving them.

Now I don't save them and just show them on the screen.

Depends on the application, but most likely if possible you should create them beforehand and save them, as this will reduce the overhead on the server.

Like I said I'm making an e-commerce shop.

I thought that making the images during loading wouldn't cost disk space, but it takes on performance.

I think i'm gonna save them.
