cannot send mail...

hi,
i'm running on a linux platform and me having this big problem...
after the user has entered in the input and click on submit btn,it will go to the next form where it send out email to the user.

$email is the email address of that person.
$sub is the title of the mail.
$news is the content for the mail

mail('$email', '$sub', '$news',"From: [e-mail]\nReply-To: [e-mail]\nX-Mailer: PHP/" . phpversion());

the above line of code is the mail() function i use but it cannot send mail...no error msg is shown,it just can't send out mail.why???

check your php.ini file to be sure sendmail is enabled. if sendmail is enabled i'd check your /var/log/maillog for any errors and to be sure sendmail is getting the email. if you don't see anything in /var/log/maillog then its an issue with php not knowing where sendmail is or sendmail isn't configured/running.
