Login system with cookie ? how should i do it?

I'm looking for a login system...

Login has to be so that my friends don't have to login over and over again... So i would like to set a cookie (granting them access forever).

How would i do this?

Then you have to define who are your friends. Is it the hole internet society or what. But take a closer look into http://www.php.net/manual/function.setcookie.php

Hi! I thought, cookies die when I close IE (if no expiry time is set for them). So, how can you permanently store the names of your friends in cookie if it dies?
