auto generating .asx files

Im trying to auto generate some .asx files depending on what .asf file the user wants to view, i can generate the file fine but it wont stream the video, i htink its a header problem can anyone help!!

I figured out a really f#cked yet clever hack to get it to work for me. First off you should be able to get it to open in the media player if you add a header ("Content-type: video/x-ms-asf"); to the top of the script. Now if you where having the problem i was having where, i wanted to make the next play entry a call back to the same script (don't ask why, understand recursion rules!). This would not work cause the media play did not reconize the file type when is didn't have the proper extention. What i do is tack a .asx to the end of the url, and then have the script strip it off the variable. So i have a asx file that looks like so:

and my php just does this:

}

don't know why it works but it seems too.

Oh yeah one more thing, the ms media player is a pile of sh#t, and you will need to add the:

header("Expires: Mon, 26 Jul 1997 05:00:00 GMT");

header("Last-Modified: " . gmdate("D, d M Y H:i:s") . " GMT");

header("Cache-Control: no-store, no-cache, must-revalidate");

header("Cache-Control: post-check=0, pre-check=0", false);
header("Pragma: no-cache");

cache removal stuff to the top of the script otherwise the stupid thing just keeps grabbing from cache.
